Attorney General Brushes Off Rape Case

One case that appeared before the attorney general, Myles Martin earlier today may not have gotten a fair verdict, Prosecuting Attorney Kyle Lindstrom says. In the suit, a female minor attending Boys State University was sexually assaulted at a Fraternity Party by one of that organization’s members, and is suing the school for the physical and emotional damages she suffered as a result of BSU’s neglect and poor handling of the situation.

After the incident was reported, the institute failed to offer any sort of counseling or other emotional support to the victim. Also, neither the fraternity nor the man who assaulted her were punished (the accused not even being suspended from the school’s football team while investigations were taking place!).

In the words of Mr. Lindstrom, “The school is more concerned with football players that rape victims”. Attorney General Myles Martin, who ruled in favor of the assailant, says that the school is not responsible for the Frats, though he is quoted as saying he is “sorry for the events that took place at BSU, and sorry for the victim”. Kyle, on the other hand, points out that the school does in fact sponsor the fraternity, and therefore should be held accountable for the woman’s damages that stem from her assault. Even when Kyle lowered the settlement for his client by 1,000,000$, Attorney General Martin still refused to settle. Currently, attorney Lindstrom continues fighting for his client, suing Boys State University for the full settlement.
