Jack Helminski’s service as a Legionary is astounding. He is a duel serving member of the legionnaires and has been the state commander of the Sons of the American Legion (SAL). He has worked here at Boys State (BS) since 2001 and has worked here ever since. He is now the Assistant Director of BS. He helps run the bank here in the offices. He actively served from 1961 to 1963 in the US Navy. He has also served in the Army National Guard as an 8” Howitzer driver and in the Air National Guard as a cook were he would often feed 1,400 people at a time.

Mr. Helminski had a lot of advice for up and coming leaders. He has from experience found that asking people to do things has a far better reaction then just ordering people to do things. He also advises one to delegate with respect, don’t force all the work on person. He asks for anyone interested to buy a Boys State pin for $3.00 at the bank.
