The Other Side of Washington

In the article “Childish Actions Delay Washington City Elections”, it was reported that the juvenile pranks of the Washington City Delegates prevented the speedy completion of the city’s conventions. The article also reported that the delegates’ behavior caused “the city and county elections of both the Nationalists and the Federalists to be severely delayed.”

I would like to correct this error. As a citizen of Washington City, I did notice and partake in the rabblerousing that initially disrupted the proceedings. However, it is untrue that our elections became severely delayed as a result. We in Washington finished our city conventions at the same time that Adams, our sister city within the county of McClelland, completed its conventions. Subsequently, Washington and Adams were the first people to finish nominations for county conventions. In other words, even though Washington likes to have a good time, we are physically capable of completing designated tasks efficiently.
