Tax Dollars To Pay For Jefferson Phoenix Center

6/15/2008

The outgoing city council and mayor have made a secret deal to subsidize the Phoenix Convention Center. The whirligig was able to obtain documentation through a freedom of information request proving this action. The Jefferson City taxpayers are on the hook for a bond of $12 million to pay for the convention center. Many residents attending the last city council meeting stood up and voiced their concerns over this move. “This was an act of treason against us taxpaying citizens by you, the city council”, said one resident. Another resident was escorted out by Police when he became violently upset. One resident was quoted as saying, “This is money we could have used for our schools or failing roads, not to line some private companies pockets”.
