Wisner Congressmen Clash over Education

Tempers flared as Representative Torey Powers (NAT) and Senator Connor Sutton (NAT) argued over the topic of public education earlier this week. Senator Sutton seeks to pass legislation that would privatize all education—a drastic change that would remove the need for several public offices, namely the State Board of Education. Representative Powers, who currently serves as chairman on the House committee on education, is strongly opposed to Sutton’s proposition. Hoping to use his influential position as committee chairman to his advantage, Powers vows, “If Sutton threatens the process of public education and funding, we will have no choice but to decline all of his proposals.”
