Boys State University’s Board of Trustees Being Sued Over Racial Preferences

The Board of Trustees is being sued for using racial preferences, not Affirmative action, for minority undergraduate applicants. This is in violation of the Equal Protection Clause of Boys State Constitution Article 1, Section 2. The Petition claims that the admission process is using racial preferences, and is admitting and denying people based on these preferences. The requirements are all the same, but apparently race is being used as a deciding factor. The defendant is claiming that all minority applicants are qualified, and that if racial preferences weren’t used, the diversity of BSU would disappear which would hinder learning and experience for all of BSU’s students.
