At today’s Introduction Meeting, the 2006 Governor, Mr. Roman, gave a speech at a word of encouragement to the present Boys Staters. Mr. Roman gave an enthusiastic speech about how when he came to Boys State he didn’t have any expectations, and how he didn’t really want to be here. Mr. Roman told the boys about how they may not have expectations yet and that they may not want to be here, but if the more they put into this program the more they will get out of it. Mr. Roman told the boys about how he had no clue that he was going to be Governor, until his city and county supported him. Mr. Roman told the boys that while they should put work into their activities here, they should also have a good time and think outside the box. He told the boys stories about things people did during his time at Boys State. Since his last name is Roman, his county wore togas to his election. Mr. Roman’s speech offered good advice and information to the boys, and also kept their interest.
