Street Gives Out In Jackson

6/17/2007

The Main St. in downtown Jackson actually collapsed yesterday. Two cars fell into the sinkhole and both drivers were injured. “I could not believe the road just caved in”, said one eyewitness. “This city has to work on the infrastructure or else the entire city may sink”, stated another eyewitness. A city block in the downtown business district lost all sewer services since the sewer line burst in the sinkhole. The DPW Director said, “We have a serious problem here and it is going to take some time.

The city is doing what it can at this point to keep sewer services available for the rest of Jackson”. There were many reports of sewer lines going out since this main line went down. The issue, as usual, is much-needed repairs through funding? The State has limited any infrastructure funding in the past year. “The City of Jackson is trying not to increase any taxes or services”, said the last years Mayor.
