Health Care Costs To Hit Cities Hard

6/17/2007

The rising health care costs are going to hit the local governments hard this year. Many union contracts are up and city employees are concerned over this health care battle. “The cost has risen over 20% in the past year alone”, stated a spokesman for state budget office. “The local cities are going to have to pay approximately $820.00 per employee a month for family coverage”. The school districts are all going to face the same issues. Is there any end to these costs or what should happen to control such costs? In Tyler City many residents do not have health care coverage through their employment. This puts a heavy burden on the State to cover health care needs through tax dollars? This issue will be on the front in this year’s election.
