Johnson Teachers May Strike

The Johnson Teachers Association representative met with the School district negotiators yesterday. The meeting lasted most of the day and the result was still no contract? The Teachers are asking for limited numbers in the classroom as well as an increase in base pay? The Union Lawyer stated, “These teachers are making poverty pay. This is not acceptable for people who are teaching our youth”. The School district has made it clear they are facing serious financial problems. “We are depending a lot on what the state is going to do with funding”, said the Superintendent of Schools. The issue may see a teacher strike if the two sides do not make any progress in the coming week?
