Jackson City Dominance

With four games in the books, Jackson City is truly letting their athletic abilities illuminate Boys’ States recreation fields. The basketball team, lead by captain James “Who’s Your Daddy” Nati, has proved to be too much for the competition. After starting off strong by beating Monroe City 10-7, they then showed their improvements by defeating the same team, 10-6. In a little bit more of a challenge, your “Jackson Five” City team competed and persevered against a tough Madison team. After starting out slow and exchanging buckets, our boys pulled through and won 10-7. However, the next game would prove to be on of intense pressure and high stakes.

Fighting for their lives, Madison started off by grabbing a 2-0 lead. Jackson, determined to accomplish their goal of winning, fought back to steal the lead 3-2. It continued this back and forth way until finally it was tied at 8. Peter “The Swan” Swanson hit two crucial shots, a jumper and then a lay-up, to seal the victory. In recollection of the game, it was a complete team effort the whole way through.

Steven “Addy” Depree plays with tremendous skill and leadership. Jordan “Big Poppa” Buckland controls the post by throwing his body around like a boxer would do with his fists. Adam “The Thief” Rowe steals the ball like he was wearing a black ski mask. David “Not so We-man” Wyman hustles the entire game and critical to the team by being the most selfless member out there. Derek “The Rainmaker” Bradley is the voice by being in control of all the smack talk and calling when it is going to “rain.” With all these parts, the Jackson Five will be a team to mess with anytime a challenger steps up.

The Volleyball team has had a harder time with their endeavors but has still fought to a four and one record. Monroe City proved to not present any of a challenge for Our Jackson City team. After two straight 15-8 games, our boys moved on to an extremely deserving opponent.

After getting shocked in the first game 9-15, Your Jackson Five kept their heads and won the next game in extra points, 19-17. Led by Co-Captains Brad “Pitt” Witt and Brett “The Jet” Kavulich, Jackson continued their gutsy play by winning the rubber match, 15-12. Talking to the team, Josh “Mr. Key” Nofke showed off his althletism and never die attitude by playing really well all four games. We hope these great efforts continue. Good luck to anyone who has to face our boys in the future.
