After day one of the election process had concluded, it was easy to see that the Federalists in Taylor were primed to stick together. The party harmony was apparent in the voting that took place for city council and mayor. The candidate for mayor was voted on unanimously and Andrew Leslie, city council hopeful, remarked “Just great party cohesion.” If the movement that began today continues tomorrow when the elections are conducted, the Nationalists in Taylor could be in for a rude awakening, as rumors have been swirling throughout Taylor that many of the Nationalists have promised votes to Federalist candidates in anticipation that the Federalists will do the same during the state elections. What started a party undecided has transformed quickly into a party destined to run Taylor, however promising a vote is not final until it is written on a ballot. Nevertheless, for one day it was easy to see that the Federalists in Taylor were more focused on party alliances than the Nationalists, and with that they might just have the power to change Taylor in a way that helps their party. Troy Rosencrants phrased it best, “It’s unanimous, and we are set to take over Taylor.” We will have to wait and see if he is correct.
