The owner of the Swordfish Basketball team is asking Johnson City to pony up funds to help offset the coast of the new stadium? The past city council made no promises or commitments to the team. The issue is on the forefront as the team may move to another city more willing to contribute? “The cost will be around fifty million from the city”, said a team spokesman. Many of the professional basketball teams around the country are getting public subsidizing to help the cost of new arenas. “We are only asking for the same help”, said Mr. Goodman owner of the team. It is yet to be seen with a new city council and mayor soon to be elected?
