Welcome Prospective Boys State Staff!
Now, more than ever, it is important to recognize and celebrate the people, values and traditions that make us all uniquely and proudly American. One of our most important values is our unique system of self-government formed of the people and by the people. Each June we gather at Boys State to celebrate our system of government and the ideals that form its deeply rooted foundation; but none of this would be possible without your help.
The American Legion Boys State program relies on past participants as a source of future staff members. You have come this far; perhaps you are willing to come a little further? I would like to congratulate you and invite you to become a member of the Boys? State staff. The dates for this year's program are: June 13 to June 21, 2008.
While the pay certainly is not great, the feeling of pride and self satisfaction derived from working in a dynamic program like Boys' State IS! Therefore, if you are up to the challenge the job entails; and are able to commit yourself at this time to the above dates, please complete the enclosed application and return it to me at the address below as soon as possible. Applications submitted to Boys State are kept on file for three years. If you cannot help this year, you will still be kept in mind for next year.
I must ask that you be able to commit yourself for the entire duration of the program from the evening of Friday June 13th through Noon on Saturday the 21st.
